OILY SKIN

Have you ever wondered how your skin can become so oily? Hidden underneath each of your pores is a sebaceous gland which produces natural oils called sebum, keeping your skin hydrated and healthy. In some people though the sebaceous glands can produce too much sebum, creating oily skin, clogged pores, and acne

Managing oily skin often requires a making regular skin care a habit. Skincare cleansers help to remove excess sebum, perspiration, dead skin cells from the skin, but it is important to strike a balance. Too aggressive of a cleanser can cause excessive dryness, leading your skin to produce more sebum to try and compensate for the loss. Finding the correct cleanser for your skin type ensures that excess sebum is removed, but enough is left behind to maintain the skin’s moisture.

One of my favorite brands of cleanser to recommend is Jan Marini, whose products act as a cleanser and toner all in one.

Bioglycolic Cleanser or Oily Skin Cleanser from Jan Marini are two very good options, depending on how oily your skin is.  But why these cleansers in particular?

Bioglycolic Cleanser contains 3 acids; Glycolic, Azelaic and Salicylic. These acids have been proven over time to be provide gentle exfoliation that helps maintain healthy skin. The cleanser itself contains a non-irritating cream base, leaving the skin soft and hydrated while eliminating dead skin cells and oil that buildup on the skin. Bioglycolic cleanser is the better choice for those with mild to moderate oil production.

Oily Skin Cleanser is a deep cleansing gel which contains glycolic acid. It provides deep follicular cleansing for those with extremely oily skin, especially those with oily cheeks that require frequent blotting. The gel base formula lathers the skin, removing oil and leaves skin feeling clean and soft. This cleanser is recommended only for those with very oily skin, as those with only moderately oily skin will find the gel too aggresssive. This may lead to increased dryness and excess oil production.

Finding the correct cleanser for your skin is important, but hydration and control of oil production work in synergy with your cleanser in order to ensure your skin remains vibrant and healthy. Bioclear Lotion and Transformation Cream/Serum are two products in particular which work well with the cleansers I’ve mentioned above.

Jan Marini Bioclear Lotion is a versatile formula which targets a number of skin issues ranging from anti-aging to acne. It has a 12% concentration of glycolic acid, azelaic acid and salicylic acid, which helps to remove the buildup of dead skin cells trapped by oil on your skin’s surface.  Since it is formulated in a gel base, the drying action of the gel helps to slow the build up of oil. This leads to fewer clogged pores and blemishes, and when combined with the proper cleanser for your specific needs leads to greater outcomes and improvement in your skin.

Hydrating your skin is just as important as controlling the production of oil. Jan Marini Transformation Cream/Serum is the key to ensuring your skin stays hydrated throughout the day. It comes in two formulations, cream for those with mild to moderate oily skin and serum for those with very oily skin. Both formulations contain growth factors, peptides, and antioxidants, creating an advanced hydration system that improves the appearance of aging and damaged skin.
